WHat is lip blushing?

Lip blushing is a semi-permanent tattoo service done on lips with a machine. It takes about 6-8 weeks for full healing right after initial session. The color will fade about 50-70%. The end result is a light flush of color that looks more natural than traditional permanent makeup (PMU). Lip Blushing can last approximately 1-3 years and will vary depending on skin type and lifestyle.

lip blush vs Traditional lip tattoo?

Lip Blush is a flush of color. There are various techniques such as watercolor and soft-touch. The end result is a natural sheer layer of color versus traditional lip tattoo that is more opaque.

do you do coverup?

Yes. We do coverup but keep in mind, if you have a lot of discoloration on your lips that it will take more than 2 sessions and the first session will have to be orange to color correct. Once we can neutralize the uneven and or dark color, we can then add desired color.

DOES IT HURT?

Everyone responds to pain and topical lidocaine differently. During your sessions we do use topical anesthetics throughout. However, there are ways to minimize the pain. Your pre-care is super important and must be followed:

At least 24 hours before, avoid the following:

  • Aspirin, ibuprofen, alcoholic beverages

  • Caffeine (coffee and tea)

  • Fish oil

  • Niacin

  • Vitamin E

  • Alcohol!!!

These all can cause your blood to thin. Your lip has three to five cellular layers versus other areas of the face can have up to 16 layers which makes it more sensitive.

why do i have to book 2 sessions?

Everyone heals differently and our lips may have various colors which we need to allow time to heal before doing another session. This is why your second session is complimentary! We want you to walk out with gorgeous lips!

What happens if i need more than 2 sessions?

We have special rates for additional touch-ups for existing clients only. For anyone who has had previous work done by another artist, we would need to treat this as a first time customer rate. Please send photos if this pertains to you so we can give you proper pricing.

wHAT IS THE HEALING LIKE?

The first 7 days are what we like to call “the ugly stage.” Lips will go through various healing throughout.

  1. The initial will be super bright, swollen, bruising, and tenderness (all various degrees depending on each individual)

  2. Lips will begin to crust and peel (DON’T PICK IT!)

  3. Then the color will “fade away” but really, it’s covered under other tissue which in time, will develop

  4. After about 6-8 week the color will have faded about 50-70% (varies depending on individual)

  5. You’re ready for your touch-up where we will perfect!

i HAVE DISCOLORATION, CAN I STILL DO LIP BLUSH?

Yes, you can definitely do lip blush but it will for sure be more than 2 sessions.

MY LIPS ARE NATURALLY UNEVEN, CAN THIS BE FIXED WITH LIP BLUSHING?

Lip blush can help soften the appearance of asymmetry to fix it, but depending on the degree of unevenness we would suggest fillers. Lip Blush can only be bladed a few millimeters from natural lip contour for ink to deposit correctly. Your brow artist will consult with you on what is realistic to achieve.

what if I have fillers? When can i get it done?

Lip fillers are great pairing with lip blush since it can help perfect the overall shape. If you plan on getting lip fillers before or after, please wait 4 weeks.

What if i plan on getting fillers, can i still get lip blush?

If you plan to get lip fillers, please book at least 2 weeks after your initial lip blush session and then wait 4 weeks after your lip filler session to book your second lip blush session.

How do you decide on an actual color?

Color choosing is a partnership which is why time is allotted during our consultation. We will go over color choices that will look best on you based on your skin and lip tone. This is also where we will discuss sessions based on if color correction is needed.

IS THIS THE SAME PROCEDURE AS MICROBLADING?

Lip Blushing is similar to microblading where we will be using a machine to insert pigment into the lip. The needle used is a single needle whereas microblading uses a bundle of needles. Microblading can be performed manually and or machine whereas lip blush is by machine. They both go through a “ugly” stage during healing, but they differ in length of time and results due to the skin layers are different.

caN I BOOK BOTH MICROBLADING AND LIP BLUSH ON SAME DAY?

Absolutely! But keep in mind that each session does take approximately 2-3 hours so you’ll need to plan to be at the studio for most of the day.
